Document Verification & Legalization for Austria Study Visa

On 5th October 1961, Hague Convention was held to abolish requirement of attestation and legalization of public documents issued by any of signatory country. Visa applicants from all member countries are not required to get their documents legalized from foreign representative of the country whose visa is required. However applicants from all other countries need legalization of their documents from representative of destination country. All European states and 10 other member countries are participating in Hague Convention or Apostille Treaty. Austria is also participating country so applicants from non-member states must get their documents verified and legalized from nearest Austrian Embassy in their home country.
Austrian consulates or embassies working around the world have declared criteria for this verification and legalization. According to the type of document, they require you to get your document verified from issuing authority first and then they accept it for legalization process. In case of education document, Austrian embassy will not legalize it unless and until it is certified by issuing authority of those documents as true certificate. Below chart will explain this verification and legalization process step by step;
  • Secondary School Certificate + Higher Secondary School Certificate >>> Issuing Educational Board + Inter Board Chairman Committee + Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Bachelor or higher level degree >>> Higher Education Commission + Ministry of Foreign Affairs
After getting verified from all above authorities, Austrian embassy will legalize your documents.
