2. Professionals

This category also require permanent, full time and paid job offer from USA. However academic/professional qualification upto at least baccalaureate degree or equivalent and work experience is compulsory for applicant applying this visa.

3. Other Workers

This category requires less than two (2) years work experience in any working field. Applications for this visa usually takes long time. Full time, paid and permanent job offer is compulsory to apply.

How to apply?

Process for this visa category is initiated by the USA employer. Your employer first file a Form I-140 with USA immigration department for you. This is one kind of sponsorship process. Once his I

– 140 form is approved, he will send you a copy and you apply to your nearest US embassy. To apply for your work permit, your employer must prove to immigration authorities that he has enough resources to pay your annual wages. To prove his eligibility, he may use all or some of these documents;

• an annual report
• federal income tax return, or
• audited financial statement.

Obtaining USA Student Visa

Types of US Student Visas

F-1, or Student Visa: The visa for people who want to study at an accredited U.S. college or university, or to study English at a university or language institute.

J-1, or Exchange Visitor Visa: The visa issued to people who will be participating in an educational or cultural exchange program.

M-1, or Student Visa: The visa for those enrolled in nonacademic or vocational programs.

Qualifying for a Student Visa

• Have a residence abroad, with no immediate intention of abandoning that residence;
• Intend to depart from the United States upon completion of the course of study; and
• Possess sufficient funds to pursue the proposed course of study.

Step1: Find College

Click here to find an accredited University or college in United States and apply to your field of study. Your school may require you  to take standardized tests such as TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, etc. After your acceptance to a college or university your new school needs to send you the I-20 Form and proper documentation that enrolls you in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Your school is responsible for entering your information for the I-20 student visa form into SEVIS.

• SEVIS is a Web-based information system that keeps track of foreign students and other exchange program participants, and allows information sharing among the various institutions and government agencies that students and exchange visitors are involved with during their journey to the United States and their stay in the country. You must pay a fee to be enrolled in SEVIS, and you will need to retain your proof of payment for presentation during your visa interview at the U.S. embassy. Step 2: Applying for Visa

You must apply for visa early in the process, you can check the wait time by embassy location here. Please note that Embassies and Consulates are able to issue your student visa 120 days or less, in advance of the course of study registration date. If you apply for your visa more than 120 days prior to your start date as provided on the Form I-20, the Embassy or Consulate will hold your application until it is able to issue the visa.

Requirements:

• When applying for a US student visa, applicants must:
•  Be accepted into a US academic institution or exchange program
•  Have a valid passport
• Fill out Form OF-156 Non-Immigrant Visa form carefully (available from offices of the US consulate)
•  You must have an approved I-20 (for F and M visas) or an approved DS-2019 (for J visas)
• Provide proof of English proficiency (requirements differ if applicant wishes to participate in English language program)
• Provide a 2×2 photograph. Check here for specification

• Include receipts for SEVIS and other fees
• Transcripts and diplomas from previous institutions attended
• Scores from standardized tests required by the educational institution such as the TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, etc.;
• Financial evidence that shows you or your parents who are sponsoring you has sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living expenses during the period of your intended study
• Take all documentation to an American embassy or consulate for a visa interview
• As part of the visa application process, an interview at the Embassy or Consulate is required.
